| As a supplementary remark on Chen Qing-yi's article "A Remark on C. F. Gauss" (cf. This Journal, 1984: No. 4: 145-147), we point out that Gauss's important creation of potential theory and its historical influence should not be neglected in the evaluation of Gauss's outstanding contribution to mathematical analysis. |
